> I had noticed a lack of DS around -- thought maybe he was on vacation...

Not exactly - I did have a brief break to visit family ("being a
dutiful grandson and doting uncle"), but that was only for a few
days. The reason you haven't heard much from me recently is that
I've deliberately taken a step back from the mailing lists.

It's probably something of an open secret by now that I've been
working on a book, describing how to develop SNMP applications
(including implementing MIB modules for the agent). That's been
making progress, but painfully slowly.

A combination of events recently (both within the Net-SNMP community
and outside) finally made me face up to the fact that if this book is
going to get finished in a reasonable timescale, I can't affort either
the time or energy that supporting queries on the lists takes.
(And I've got to cut down on other stuff too!)

So I'm trying very hard not to respond to anything at the moment.
Unfortunately there's something about William's rather ascerbic
style of posting that I find very difficult not to rise to.
But I'm getting better at it....

Don't worry - I'll be back when things have progressed a bit.
(OK - perhaps you *should* worry!).
But that probably won't be until after Christmas.

Dave
