Betreff: snmp newbie

I am a newbie in the snmp world. I am trying to check link usage on my linux
routers with kernel versions 2.4.24-ck1 and 2.2.17 with mrtg.

How do I setup snmpd and snmpd.conf to respond to snmp polls. I tried copying
snmpd and snmpd from a router which is already being monitored by mrtg but
when I run the script with command snmpd -c /etc/snmpd.conf,  I get  "cannot
run binary file".

I need help please.

Hi,
I think this could be a problem with diffrent glibc version on your systems; the 2.2.17 system seems to be a bit old. Maybe you should compile the snmpd for each machine on the machine itself. After this you could make a good configuration to start with by running snmpconf.

hope this helps.

Sven Herzing
