Hey,
Thats works !! Great!
But there is another thing that concerns me. The value of ifInNUcastPkts
and ifOutNUcastPkts fetched fom "snmpwalk -m all -c public -v 2c localhost
if" is 0. Values of the new objects , namely -- ifInMulticastPkts,
ifInBroadcastPkts and ifOutMulticastPkts, ifOutBroadcastPkts is also 0. The
new objects showed up when firing "snmpwalk -m all -c public -v 2c localhost
ifXtable".
IF-MIB::ifInMulticastPkts.1 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifInMulticastPkts.2 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifInMulticastPkts.3 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifInBroadcastPkts.1 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifInBroadcastPkts.2 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifInBroadcastPkts.3 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutMulticastPkts.1 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutMulticastPkts.2 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutMulticastPkts.3 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutBroadcastPkts.1 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutBroadcastPkts.2 = Counter32: 0
IF-MIB::ifOutBroadcastPkts.3 = Counter32: 0
In an atempt to see some non-zero value i did a ping on the multicast
address, there was no effect. Are these vaules being returned from the
kernel ? Follow:

Are you sure you are running the new snmpd from 5.2.1? And if so, are you
sure
it is picking up the right libraries? The best way to ensure both of these
is
either (a) configure net-snmp to be static (--enable-static
--disable-shared),
or (b) remove the previous package installed by Suse.

You are lost in a twisty maze of little standards, all different.
