Please excuse me if this has been covered, or is so trivial it makes you
snort your coffee/soda. I'm relatively new to the world of snmp and
seeking some help. I've searched through the list archives and couldn't
figure out the solution on my own.

I'm setting up some monitoring on my network, and am adding little by
little as time goes on. I'm trying to monitor my printers now, as they
are a constant cause of nuisance. I'm trying to whittle down a snmpget
query to a form that MRTG can use, but am getting an unlinked OID error
as follows:

snmpget -m /usr/share/snmp/mibs/Printer-MIB.mib -v2c -Cf -Ov -c public
192.168.16.202 prtMarkerLifeCount.1.1
Unlinked OID in Printer-MIB: printmib ::= { mib-2 43 }
Undefined identifier: mib-2 near line 10 of
/usr/share/snmp/mibs/Printer-MIB.mib
Counter32: 22639

So it gets the information, but complains about the unlinked OID. I've
made sure I have the mib files in the imports at the top of the mib. I
have required mibs named as the file names in the same case, and also
have them as .txt's and .mib's (I don't know if it cares about this
aspect).

I've tried the query forcing version 1 and same results.

The top of the mib looks like this:

Printer-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN

IMPORTS
    MODULE-IDENTITY, OBJECT-TYPE, experimental, Counter32, Integer32,
        TimeTicks, NOTIFICATION-TYPE, OBJECT-IDENTITY FROM SNMPv2-SMI

    MODULE-COMPLIANCE, OBJECT-GROUP FROM SNMPv2-CONF
    hrDeviceIndex, hrStorageIndex FROM HOST-RESOURCES-MIB;

Oh, the mib file is rfc1759 I believe. Any advice will be greatly
appreciated.
