It looks like an unexpected blank line in the file. What kernel are you
running? Can you run 'cat /proc/net/dev > /tmp/proc.net.dev' and send it to me?
That command returned nothing:
cat /proc/net/dev > /tmp/proc.net.dev
uname -r
2.4.20-6
