We would strongly recommend that you uninstall the standard RPM versions before trying to work with source distributions. It's not impossible to get two versions working together, but it's an obvious source of problems. Try removing both source versions, and uninstall the RPM. Then run a 'locate' to make sure that there are no SNMP-related bits left over. *Then* try compiling one of the source tarballs again. That's by far the safest way to proceed.
