Is this output from the agent, or from the "snmpget" client?
The sample you listed seem to indicate that this is client
output, but the only relevant code is part of the agent.

How did you start the agent?  From the same shell window
as you're running the client commands, or a different
window?  What were the command-line options you used
for starting the agent?

They're typically the port number of the remote end of the
connection.  I'm not sure why they're negative, though!
