I've tried to compile 5.3, but I get this Error:
gcc -DINET6 -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -Dlinux -o .libs/snmpd
snmpd.lo ./.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so ./.libs/libnetsnmpagent.so
helpers/.libs/libnetsnmphelpers.so ../snmplib/.libs/libnetsnmp.so

./.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `var_ifEntry'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
My ./configure:
./configure --prefix=/opt/net-snmp-5.3 \
--with-perl-modules \
--with-mib-modules="mibII mibII/mta_sendmail host
ucd-snmp/pass_persist misc/ipfwacc smux ucd-snmp/diskio tunnel
disman/event disman/event-mib" \
--with-defaults \
--enable-shared \
--disable-static \
--without-root-access \
--enable-ipv6 \
--enable-ucd-snmp-compatibility \
--with-persistent-directory=/opt/lib/net-snmp \
--with-cflags="-Wall -fno-strict-aliasing"
Try
./configure ... --with-mib-modules="mibII/mta_sendmail misc/ipfwacc smux
ucd-snmp/diskio"
The "tunnel" mib module doesn't work with the new if-mib implementation
in 5.3.
