In which case you don't actually need the "master agentx" line.
When you run this command, does it successfully open this port
to listen on? Try running "netstat -a -n". Does this include
mention of 705?
How are you starting the subagent? How was it constructed/compiled?
In particular, how are you telling it to connect to port 705?
What O/S are you working with? Is there any form of local firewall,
or IP Tables filtering or other network access control? That
might prevent the subagent contacting the master agent.
Try running the master agent as
snmpd -f -Le -d -x localhost:705
and then start the subagent. Do you see any output?
