Yes your suspicion is correct, and my agent is a net-snmp agent and it is running in a 64bit processor.
Can you please explain me in detail. Is this behaviour is because of the 64bit processor (any difference b/n using 32bit processor and 64bit processor ?) or is there any significant way by which net-snmp handles this datatype (snmpipaddress). Your explanation in this regard is very much appreciated.
Awaiting for your early reply.

What architecture (and O/S) is the system where the agent is running?
What agent software is it (vendor and version)?
This looks suspiciously like a 64-bit problem. Is the remote box a
64-bit system by any chance?
