But are you telling *snmpwalk* to look in the wrong place, or just the subagent?
It's the client (snmpwalk) that converts from "system" to .1.3.6.1.2.1.1
and back again for the results.
The agent/subagent doesn't use the MIB files at all (as mentioned in
the FAQ entry that I pointed you to).

Try
snmpwalk -M /home/arnboden/testMonitoring/etc ..... system
That should fail, as expected.
