I would like to get some recommendations on SNMP books.

Understanding SNMP MIBs by David T. Perkins and Evan McGinnis

Does anybody else have recommendations, or is this a fairly definitive text?

I have successfully implemented a MIB (300+ traps, only 5 scalars for the
trap info) using the Net-SNMP sub-agent.
This was pretty straight-forward.
Now I would like to get into the really useful features of implementing
scalars, tables, etc.
The final result is to build MIBs and sub-agents for devices without
built-in SNMP support.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

The Perkins/McGinnis is great for it's detailed explanations of MIBs, OIDs
and SNMP Datagrams.

A very useful 'How To' book is "Essential SNMP, Second Edition"; By Douglas
Mauro, Kevin Schmidt; Second Edition September 2005, published by O'Reilly.

Cheers,

-John
