Unfortunately, the FAQ is wrong :-(
[You just can't get the staff these days....]

You can have unauthenticated SNMPv3 requests, but you
do still need to provide a (valid) username.

Try

     defSecurityName    someUser
     defSecurityLevel     noAuthNoPriv
