Ideally, we'd be able to do shared library building on AIX with latest stable vanilla libtool and have things just work like on any other platform. But this isn't the case on AIX (yet), perhaps related to AIX linking peculiarities, our broken library layering, a symbol clash or a combination of even more things. Ideally, you could track it down, fix it yourself and submit the patch. :-) Do you have the IBM xlc compiler available? What level of AIX experience do you have?
