Well, you guessed it right. The folder is empty.

Here's a brief overview of the steps that I followed (I could have sworn
that I stayed true to the README.solaris instructions).

1. I downloaded the source code installed in ~/net-snmp/net-snmp-5.3.1.

2. I then ran configure as shown below. (It gets a little verbose).
./configure --without-root-access --with-default-snmp-version=3
--enable-mfd-rewrites --with-mib-modules=ucd-snmp/diskio
--prefix=/export/opt --exec-prefix=/export/opt
--with-persistent-directory=/var/opt/net-snmp
[EMAIL PROTECTED] --build=sparc-sun-solaris2.8
--host=sparc-sun-solaris2.8 --target=sparc-sun-solaris2.8
--with-logfile=/var/log/snmpd.log
--with-sys-location=Citigroup_Data_Center
--srcdir=/export2/home/sm53808/net-snmp/net-snmp-5.3.1.

Makefiles generated successfully.

3. I then ran ~/net-snmp/net-snmp-5.3.1/make. No compilation errors. Is
there a sanity check here to make sure that make was successful?

4. Then, as root, I disabled the running snmp daemons and then ran
/export2/home/sm53808/net-snmp/net-snmp-5.3.1/make install.
Once again, is ther a sanity check to make sure that the installation
was proper and successful?

5. Then I tried to run the snmpdconf -g basic_setup and ran into issues.

Thanks a lot for your time!
Sashi

Oops.
I should really have asked what
    ls /export/opt/share/snmp/snmpconf-data/snmp-data
displayed
(since that's what the command was complaining about)
