Hello SNMP-users,
I basically followed the instructions from INSTALL found in the source tar
file net-snmp-5.4.1.tar.gz and the installation went on smoothly. I even
used the snmpconf command to create the snmptrapd.conf file.
However, when I tried running the command snmptrapd, or snmptrap, it says
"floating point exception"
In the machine there was a previous version of the net-snmp installed but
when trying to run snmp commands they all just output "floating point
exception" so I tried reinstalling by compiling from source, installing the
RPM with --replacepckgs option and other methods of installation.
could have I perhaps used the wrong compiler? my machine is Red Hat
Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4) with kernel 2.6.9-42.ELsmp.
I simply ran ./configure and went with the default values. (I'm just a
newbie at SNMP). I didn't override any values.
sorry for such a newbie question, But I haven't seen anyone else in this
list that seemed to have encountered the same problem. It must be very
basic..
Regards,
Jam
