A notification will be defined in a MIB file.
As such, there will be an OID associated with it.
Either directly (for SMIv2 MIBs), or implicitly
(for SMIv1 MIBs, based on the enterprise and value)

Similarly, when an notification request is sent/received,
then this will include the OID of the trap. Either
directly (for SNMPv2/3) or indirectly (SNMPv1).

Such traps will be defined in a MIB file, and so will have an OID.
How else would you know what event or situation that trap is
reporting, and what MIB object values (if any) should be included?
