I am seeing strange behavior when configuring snmpd to send traps using
trapsess command in the snmpd.conf file.
When I don't specify an engineID explicitly it attempts to do discovery even
though I am not asking for INFORMS!
I would expect the code to use the authoritative engine ID of the snmpd
agent unless otherwise specified.
If I try explicitly using the oldEngineID that I find under
/var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf my manager complains that the timeline info is
wrong in the trap that it received.
How can I configure snmpd to send v3 authPriv TRAPS to a manager?
I am using version 5.1.2. Does anyone know if this has been fixed on later
versions?
Thanks,
Josh
