Hi,
I am using Net-SNMP R5.4.1 with Perl 5.8.8.822 on WinXP. The Net-SNMP
Agent was installed as "Standard Agent" with Embedded Perl support. Then,
NetSNMP.ppd package was also installed.
I have verified the embedded perl support by executing the command,
Perl net-snmp-perl-test.pl.
I have configured my Agent using snmpconf –g basic_setup and then I tried
To include perl do "c:/net-snmp/file.pl"; in snmpd.conf by manual editing
as told in
http://www.net-snmp.org/wiki/index.php/Tut:Extending_snmpd_using_perl
When I restart the Agent, it gives me the following error in snmpd.log.
"C:/net-snmp/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf: line 56: Warning: Unknown token: perl.
NET-SNMP version 5.4.1"
But, the agent is up and running. I think because of the error perl
file is not getting executed. I saw the following in the link mentioned
above.
"If embedded perl support is enabled, then immediately before executing the
first perl directive, the agent will execute the code in the file
/usr/share/snmp/snmp_perl.pl. By default, this contains the following:"
When I checked the filesystem of my machine, it does not have any file with
the name,
snmp_perl.pl.
Then, I manually created the file with the sample lines give in the above
mentioned link and
restarted the agent. But, the same error appears…
Can you please let me know what I am missing here?
Thanks,
R Srinivasan
