Hi, Fujita
Yes, I've recompile net-snmp with some changes, and for the time being, it runs
ok. I list the configuration changes below FYI:
1. add the "--prefix=$YOUR_INSTALL_PATH" option, this way it can be installed
into your directory.
2. while running configure script, rename the persistent file to some place
where your dedicated user have previlege to access
3. don't forget to change the log file path to some place you have right to
write
4. make and make install
5. add a line "agentaddress udp : PORT_GREATER_THAN_1000"
then you can su to your dedicated username and enter into the place where your
agent's binary file is installed. Run "snmpd" and test it.

Hi, Xiao!
Did you try to install net-snmp in your user space? I don't know if it
gives permission to control the daemon, but you can modify the configuration.
Try it, send the answer and let's do other tries, ok?
Good luck and regards,
Fujita

Hi, there
Is there a way to install net-snmp snmpd and run it by a user other than
"root"?
I know that I must specify another listening port, but besides this, what else
do I have to do? Thanks!
