Where do you keep the 2nd snmpd.conf file that has the rwuuser entry in it ?(I
am assuming we dont need to have more than 2 snmpd.conf files)

Hi Thomas,

I've tried the way you mentioned and failed.  I got unknown user error..
Further observation showed that after inovokattion, the createuser entry in
/var/lib/snmp/snmpd.conf was  "substituted by this line,  setserialno
168361985, only.  No usmUser line was generated.  My
/%PATH/var-net-snmp/snmpd.conf still has the entry of "rwuser user1" and my
/usr/lcal/share/snmp/snmpd.conf is blank.  Is it possible that my
"%PATH/var-net-snmp/snmpd.conf" is causing the problem?
thx

Steve

Put the createUser statement into /var/lib/snmpd/snmpd.conf. It will be
*substituted* by the corresponding usmUser line.
