Hi

I have a question about snmpd and snmptrapd processes in case of snmpv3.

1. I have a set up with the snmp.conf and snmptrapd.conf files setup to send
and receive snmp v3 traps.

2. I start the snmptrapd and then start the snmpd agent and send traps via the
snmp agent to the trap deamon and everything looks good.

3. Then I restart the snmptrapd *without* restarting the snmp agent. Now the
snmptrapd can no longer receive traps. Everything halts until I restart the
snmp agent and things start to work again.

My question is :

1. Is there a handshake between the two processes that happens only at startup?

2. Is there a way to re negotiate the handshake incase the snmptrapd goes down
and comes back up ? I dont want to restart my snmp agent each time the
snmptrapd restarts for some reason.
