        GWAH!  Now it is not unknown for names to vary, but the numbers should 
never change.  This may be the sign of some preverse processing, such as 
passing OIDs as named value strings between applications which have different 
values for some of the names, especially prefixes.

        Correct.  OIDs *are* sequences of numbers.  The names, defined in MIBs, 
are conveniences for humans.

        No.  If the rest is correct then the application knows that the 1 knwon 
as "internet" is there (remember, OIDs are sequences of numbers) because it 
*must* be there to get to the end part.  If you see a display 
"iso.org.dod.mgmt.mib-2.system.sysDescr", it can only be referring to 
.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1, unless you have some terribly sscrewed up MIBs.

        ...and check your MIBs for all the tools you are using, and pass only 
absolute numeric values until final display.
