Only a lawyer can probably answer that authoritatively and I suspect
even they wouldn't because they won't make promises either.  There are
simply too many patents in the world to authoritatively state that a
body of code has none within it.  That being said, there are no patents
that affect Net-SNMP that I know of (and I'm the most-likely to be
informed of any :-)

The only things that Net-SNMP uses from OpenSSL are the MD5, SHA1, DES
and AES cryptography algorithms.  (future releases will likely use the
TLS/DTLS/X.509 code as well but the current ones don't yet).
