Hi,
Am Malar form Bangalore, We are developing a network monitoring tool...So
we planned to use SNMP to monitor the application. Now am able to monitor
MSSQL server which is installed locally via SNMP. I mean, SNMP service is
running in my machine and Net-Snmp is installed. Now I want to monitor the
application(MSSQL), which is located remotly from my local machine.
SNMP service is running on the target machine also. So when I try execute
the snmpgetnext/snmpwalk command am getting the error below
C:\>snmpgetnext -v 1 -c public 192.168.1.175 .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5
Error in packet.
Reason: (genError) A general failure occured
Failed object: MSSQLSERVER-MIB::mssqlSrvState
C:\>snmpgetnext -v 1 -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5
MSSQLSERVER-MIB::mssqlSrvState."Microsoft Corporation" = INTEGER: running(1)
But in local machine its working fine. Is there any configuration have to be
made or should I install Net-Snmp in target machine also?
And I read in some blog , that before installing SQL server, SNMP service
should be enabled in that specified machine. Then only SNMP will be able to
monitor SQL...Is it like that?..
Expecting your's help...as of being a new bie on SNMP.
Thanks in Advance..
Regards,
Malar
