That works well with 5.4.1 + patch 1775124 (Fix clientaddr functionality). After spending the day on and off that problem, I haven't tried w/o the patch. I also had to battle with a patch made in-house that worked for 5.2.3 but not for 5.4.1 and I've pursued that path a bit nevertheless, which consisted of opening directly the snmp.conf file for reading the clientaddr param and then doing the bind. Works with 5.3.2, but not with 5.4.1. In brief for everyone, the clientaddr param is added directly in the snmpd.conf file, but under a heading, as in: [snmp] clientaddr 192.168.4.1 [snmpd] (back to regular snmpd.conf params) This will alter the source IP address so that traps will have that source IP addr instead of the one of the out-going interface. I've also modified plain ol' syslogd to have such an option by adding a -S command-line param. I wouldn't know where to submit a patch upstream for syslogd, though :-) Cheers, and thanks for the hint: it's greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Register Now for Creativity and Technology (CaT), June 3rd, NYC.
