SNMP is primarily designed for managing *known* systems, if only
because it's typically necessary to configure suitable access controls
on the individual hosts.

The latest (upcoming) release of the software - 5.5.rc1 - includes some
limited support for IPv4 broadcasts, but this is an experimental facility,
and hasn't really been tested much yet.
   Grab this latest version, and give it a whirl - see if it's any good for you.
