What is the exact command you are trying? > The Usm_User_Table, Cfg_Sec2Groups, and Snmp_Cfg_Access tables > have been setup in the agent. How? What do they contain, and how was this configured? > Is this error being generated by the agent or could the manager be the > source? The simplest way to tell with the Net-SNMP tools is to add the option '-d'. This will show raw packets being sent and received. If you get this error immediately, with no packets being sent, then it's clearly from the manager. If you see a normal request-response conversation, then it's more likely to be from the agent. > Does the manager need to "know" the user names? It needs to know what username to specify, together with the authentication and privacy characteristics to use (i.e. algorithms and passwords) for that user. But these can easily be provided as command-line options, so it's not essential to have this information permanently configured into the manager. (Though this is also possible, of course).
