Hi I've been testing out the receipt of some traps I am sending from our
product and I've seen a couple things that raised some questions in my
mind.

I'm using snmptrapd 5.4.1 as the receiver and currently I have it
configured with no authentication logging to a file.

snmptrapd -c /usr/local/share/snmp/snmptrapd.conf -Lf /tmp/traplog

Observation/Question 1: While looking at the log file and also syslog I
notice that one of the fields is missing. It is the last field so I'm
assuming this has something to do with it truncating to a given line
length? I tried putting it in debug mode and it shows it parsing the
last field out but it never gets displayed in the output. I've also
validated in wireshark that the last field is in the trap. Is there any
easy way to have it not truncate the field and display everything?

Observation/Question 2: When I started testing I had some extra traps
enabled which would cause maybe a couple traps per second max and I
noticed at times that it seemed to skip appending some of the traps to
the log it seemed like they would show up on occasion. I validated in
the packet sniffer that the data was getting to the destination machine
are there known issues with receiving multiple events in a close time
window causing an event to get skipped? Or is there some logic that
causes a single event that is repeated say every 15 seconds to be
skipped for some period of time? I would figure that a couple a second
should be able to be buffered was curious if there are any known issues
that could cause this?

Thanks for any advice,

Jared
