With no returning packet dumps?
OK - so it's not the 16-bit ID problem.

Other possibilities:
  -  you are using different authentication credentials
     on the Solaris box and the Windows system itself

Check the exact commands used in both cases


  -  the server is configured to allow local access only

Check the configuration of the server


  -  there is a firewall somewhere, that's blocking the
     requests from being received.

Turn on debugging at the server side, to see if
requests are being received.
Check firewall configurations.
