Alternatively to Nagios, you might consider Icinga
(http://www.icinga.org/) which is a fork of Nagios and is pure Open
Source.

Another one to consider: RiverMuse Core (http://www.rivermuse.org/),
there is a Pro version which is not Open Source, the Core version is
released under GPL3.
