I can't seem to get a combination of MS Windows 2008 (v6.0.6001)
along with Net-SNMP with 'windows extension DLL support' of either
v5.5.0 or 5.4.2 to work right (the way I need).
(using pre-compiled binaries from SourceForge)

Here are my results:

Notes:

- 'sysObjectID' refers to the use of the sysObjectId directive to specify a
custom value.
- 'override' refers to the use of the override directive attempting to
specify
  a custom value of sysObjectID.
- The AgentX test involves connecting a 'remote' sub-agent (from a Linux
machine)
to the MS Windows machine under test.
- 'HostResources' refers to whether any variables are visible in that MIB.

Net-SNMP MS-DLL sysObjectID override AgentX
HostResources

5.5 without works-truncated works-truncated works
not-provided
5.5 with doesn't work works-truncated works provided

5.4.2.1 without works works-truncated #2
not-provided
5.4.2.1 with #1 works-truncated #2 #1

#1 - sysObjectId didn't respond, but then neither did most (all) standard
tables, etc.
#2 - sub-agents connect, but are not visible when browsed

Conclusions:

- I can't use v5.5 because it suffers the sysObjectID OID truncation bug,

- I can't use v5.4.2.1 because it doesn't support agentx under Win 2008.

Since I have no facilities for building my own copy of v5.6(pre), so I have
to
wait for v5.6 (windows) binaries to be released. (Does anyone have an
installable
.exe I could try while waiting for the official release?)

P.S. It would be nice if Net-SNMP provided the standard IP and HostResources
related info on MS Windows without needed the MS DLL support.
