Use the "oldEngineID" value found in the persistent configuration file,
normally /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf

Subject: How to encrypt trapsess command in snmpd.conf?

Hi

I need to allow and configure TRAPv3 in snmpd.conf.

I added trapsess command, but such command need to receive password
(pass-phrase) and it is not encrypted at this point.

How can I add such command with encryption?

After hours of searching the web I found the following answer to my
question:

Untested, but try putting the following in /var/net-snmp/snmpd.conf

createUser -e 0x010203040506 myuser MD5 mypassword DES myotherpassword

Then use the trapsess directive:

trapsess -e 0x010203040506 -u myuser -l authPriv localhost:162

I haven't tried this myself, but it should work K

Dave

However, I am using default EngineID as suggested. How do I know what
EngineID to use in the "-e" flag???
