Hi
I know of 2 ways to manage users in snmp (add, delete, change password).
1) nmpusm + snmpvacm
2) manually edit snmpd.conf file
I have security issues with both ways (on server side):
1) I am planning to call these applications from server code, using
system call.
Each application call need to contain user+password of the executing
user. Therefore I need to hold somewhere in my code the name and
password of a user with such permissions, and they need to be uncrypted.
2) When I manually add "createUser" line to snmpd.conf in persist
directory- I add it un-ecrypted and only after restarting the demon the
line are edited by the snmpd. Since I user the SIGHUB signal to notify
the demon to re-read config files, the passwords stays unencrypted for a
while.
Is there a better way to solve this issue?
