Hi, I'm a relatively new user to Net-SNMP, and am using it on Ubuntu and
FreeBSD. I've got a couple of related questions having to do with notifications.
First, what is supposed to happen when snmpd is unable to send a TRAP due to
the network interface being down? How does this differ with an INFORM? I
thought the behavior would be that a TRAP wouldn't get sent (since it can't
be), but that snmpd would retry to send the INFORM until it gets a RESPONSE.
But that's not what I'm seeing.
Second, when snmpd restarts (or crashes) does it remember TRAPs and INFORMs
that it hasn't yet delivered, and then retry them when it comes back up? Or is
that list kept in memory and is therefore lost?
Thanks,
Todd.
