Hi All, I've done some Googling on this topic but everything I have seen looks pretty old so I figured I would just go ahead and ask.
Is there any way to make snmptrapd do a DNS lookup to get a useful system name when it receives a trap? If not a DNS lookup is there a way to just specify meaningful names of systems in the snmptrapd configuration that will be used? The TCP DUMP of the trap looks like this: 15:36:26.441966 IP DNSHOSTNAME.42187 > snmptrapserver.snmptrap: C="community" Trap(29) E:534.2.12 10.0.7.3 coldStart 447 It seems like no matter what format I give to snmptrapd.conf it just shows "10.0.7.3" and not "DNSHOSTNAME" in the actual trap output. Thanks so much for any advice. -Drew
