   Has anyone seen the following problem with macOS 9 and netatalk 
   (asun-pre36)? Every so often my G4 partcially locks up sending 
   zillions of pkts to the netatalk server. The only I can do is to drop 
   into Macsbug and reboot.

go to include/atalk/dsi.h and change the DSI_SERVQUANT_MIN line to the
following: 

#define DSI_SERVQUANT_MIN   0x0005A2E0L /* minimum server quantum */ 


let me know if that solves things.
