Narragansett Clarinet (for Matt Lavelle) http://www.alansondheim.org/out08.jpg https://youtu.be/fR90cC47Ims http://www.alansondheim.org/out11.jpg playing at the cliff edge, Beavertail State Park, Rhode Island, Narragansett Bay. I've been doing a series of pieces with flute, shakuhachi, and recorders in wind and rain and storm for the past few years; this is a dry run. there were sunbathers below on a very cloudy day. I don't have Matt's skill, but I love the way sound does or doesn't carry in the open air, the way the body and body music interact with the world. a very short piece - too many people around the path! clarinet x, Narragansett x, plein air improvisation x when there's wind and rain, it's more difficult to play of course; the force of the air interferes with the internal resonant frequences of the sound column. etc. but it locks one into the world in a very different way than playing indoors. _______________________________________________ NetBehaviour mailing list [email protected] https://lists.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
