Hi all,

I was browsing a timeline of Leonardo's life today, and learned that one of his
earliest assignments in the workshop of Verrocchio was to design apparel for
special events! ( That was 1472, when he was 20.)

Even in 1490 at age 38, famous and celebrated, he was designing clothing for
court events. Can there be any question he knew much about the meanings and
uses of garments? The reductionism of some Leonardo scholarship is worth
questioning.

Also fun fact, Leonardo designed bridges, including a plan for one across the
Bosphorus that would have been the largest bridge in the world.

Context, context, context is all!

Happy Saturday,

Max
