Always a favourite Gil Evans’ version of There Comes A Time... mid 70s -
featuring so many genius players like Hannibal Peterson and Tony Williams who
wrote the very odd ten beat song - ‘there comes a time when you want to be
bolder’.
My little jam the other day in which I used my loop pedal to capture the chords
and ten beat cycle with a sort of triplet feel, then the bluesy inflected
melody and improv.
So much fun to play music but even better with others.
I recall very early 80s in Bristol - we were young ‘ns jamming on this like
fools in our massive and cheap flat in posh Cotham, when housing was cheap and
not extortionately expensive.
We had drums and saxophones and guitars happily playing in the great funky bay
window lounge...
gardens sprayed with silver dew outside in the dusky light of a weekday late
afternoon - now winds blew it up and away to live in the psychedelic memory...
