Avatars, Emanents https://youtu.be/pPU0j8H1dkg video - read below - http://www.alansondheim.org/emanent2.rtf - download (around 2016, theory of emanating or problematic avatars) I've worked with avatars and avatar constructs for a long time; this video summarizes the scaffolding and the song summarizes their positioning in the world. these were built from the ground up, in other words no AI. The movements came from flesh bodies in flesh and studio space altered by careful remappings. The movements were created by dancers following sets of instructions with feedback from monitors in the motion capture room. The current 'smearing' of the image emphasizes the trajectories and spatial occupying produced by the movements. The song emphasizes the implicitness and implicit presence of avatars. The avatars began and ended with people, not with sets of instructions. The people transformed and produced files that I've used everywhere. In a sense it's related to war games or traffic flow studies. Here it's married to something, the futures of flesh and bodies. It bears witness.
