Hi james,

Fair comments...

Well - the DIWO submission period has not finished yet, not for a while in fact - we've all got plenty of time to get some more work and collaborations happening here.

Also, I think that it is up to the imaginations and creative passions of those on this list in respect of how they collaborate - after all it's their show. Also, it's yours as well James of course, but I think you know what I mean ;-)

If you are worried that people are not collaborating enough - I think perhaps a bit of patience is called for, I would'nt give up just yet. I have received loads of emails from people on ths list, and contrary to Lem's fun piece 'Artists are lazy', I feel that it is not the case, just some of them - just like any other human being in any other context or profession...

I feel that your notions regarding use of open source are relevant as well. I think that if we chat more on this, perhaps something can be worked out - nad I really appreciate that you are making the effort and thinking 'consciously' about this stuff, it does help.

Hello,

With the DIWO project I'd personally hoped and/or expected to see more
exchange of components, something more toward an open source development
model (yawn), rather than, on the whole, settling for accumulation/cut
up (of which I'm just as guillty).

But saying this, there's the problem of different computer platforms in
use, Windows, Linux, Mac, maybe even others (factoid: an amiga visited
my site last week).

Anyway what I can provide in this regard is the following (all open
source software based):

*** Images in the GIMP's native file format so layers are available for
editing.

*** GIMP mathmap plugin expression (already posted).

*** Scalable Vector Graphics (svg) of some visual pieces.

*** .med files for the MUSE audio/midi sequencer.

*** a sound bank of instruments created for the software synth
ZynAddSUbFX, which grows with every audio piece I make.

*** Hydrogen Drum Machine patterns (where applicable).

*** Ardour Hard Disk Recorder sessions - minus the actual audio, but
routing of audio channels, fx, buses, would be intact.

*** perhaps mp3's of seperate audio channels from Ardour.

Please don't think the only reason I'm posting this is because I think
my stuff is so great that everyone should use it, it's more about the
potential to see how other people would make different artistic choices
given the same raw materials.

Any other thoughts about DIWO interaction so far?

James.
