i've been watching this movie lately...
in the credits it is said that is based in a stanasliav lem's short
storie, but in the internet
it is said that some russian brothers did write it,
(some day i'll look for to know exactly who wrote it)

i am also very fond of tarkowsky's works! :-)
AFAIK Solaris was the only Tarkowsky´s film based in the well known
Stanislaw Lem novel with the same name.
as for Stalker, the credits are for Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, "Roadside
Picnic".
