Connecting Principle is a multi-disciplinary research forum at Newcastle
University which aims to increase opportunities for interdisciplinary
collaboration between creative practitioners and researchers working
within universities and independently. The project was established by
Visiting Research Fellow Monica Ross in October 2002 bringing together
time based works by fine artists and musicians. The activities of the
group were resumed in 2006 by Professor Wolfgang Weileder in
collaboration with Culture Lab to explore the potential of a research
forum as a way of making connections between time and process based
practices ranging from fine art and music to pervasive computing and
marine sciences.
Connecting Principle: Process is a collaboration between Culture Lab and
the Fine Art Department of the School of Arts and Cultures working with
School of Geography, Politics and Sociology; the Informatics Research
Institute; Newcastle University Business School; the School of Marine
Science and Technology and the Hatton Gallery. In partnership with: the
University of Northumbria at Newcastle, the University of Dundee, the
University of Bremen, Transmedia Brussels and the Academy of Fine Arts
Munich. Connecting Principle: Process has been developed in partnership
with Independent Curator Ele Carpenter.
