THE DUELLISTS
MediaShed ft David Valentine and Methods of Movement

The Duellists is now available to view online. One of the new artworks
commissioned by Futuresonic in 2007, it has been shown 18 times at
international events, and identified by New York Times as the highlight
of Eyebeam's Source Code exhibition.

The Duellists was one of 3 major new commissions in Futuresonic's Art
For Shopping Centres exhibition, also featuring Harwood and Katherine
Moriwaki, which was developed over an 18 month period and featured
linked activities across the UK.

MediaShed were invited to the Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre by
Futuresonic to make a film combining free-media with free-running.
Parkour, or freerunning, involves fluid, uninterrupted movement,
adapting motion to obstacles in the environment. MediaShed created the
film overnight in the Arndale shopping centre, filmed using only the
in-house CCTV system, and it was then shown on the screens inside the
shopping centre from 10-20 May 2007.

The Futuresonic 2008 theme is The Social - Social Networking Unplugged.
Digital culture burns bright with a vision of being not in isolation but
in groups, placing the relations between people first. Beyond the hype
lies ever greater isolation and conformity. Join us as we go in search
of the social.
