There's an excellent posting about the implications of surveillance and social

Joshua-Michele Ross argues that social networking,surveillance, databases, etc 
are creating "a culture that has become accustomed to constant disclosure" so 
we no longer miss our privacy, and no longer notice how we are being 
manipulated.
