++++++++ Interactive Screen 0.9 Scholarship ++++++++
August 08, 2009 - August 15, 2009
Application deadline: July 10, 2009
New media practitioners interested in developing a project, furthering
their knowledge, networking, and working directly with the Banff New
Media Institute’s Interactive Screen 0.9 Workshop peer advisors are
encouraged to apply to this scholarship. Scholarships are available to
Canadian and international applicants and include financial support to
attend the workshop, as well as focused mentorship time with the
Interactive Screen Workshop peer advisors and participants.
Scholarship participants will arrive for the Interactive Screen
workshop two days early for pre-workshop mentorship. During this time,
participants will meet one on one with mentors, and work refines their
project ideas, learning objectives and project pitches in preparation
for the workshop. This opportunity is an excellent way to workshop a
new idea, to receive critical feedback on your prototype, to increase
awareness and a network of champions related to your creative work.
More information on the Interactive Screen 0.9 Workshop.
Applications
The Banff New Media Institute is interested in receiving applications
for projects that are at all stages of development, from early stage
concepts through to fully developed prototypes. We have the capacity
to provide valuable mentorship and support across a broad range of new
media interests including artistic practice, technology and
applications projects, interdisciplinary work, gaming, networked art,
design, cross platform and convergent media.
Applications will be adjudicated based on artistic/creative merit,
demonstration of clear learning and development goals, and relevance
to the Interactive Screen program and theme. Successful scholarship
participants can expect to significantly mature their idea over the
course of the program, to problem solve development issues (including
technical, financing, legal, and conceptual), to acquire a network of
expert advisors, and will leave with a well written two page
description of your project that clearly articulates your vision and
goals in order to fully realize your work. Participants in this
program often develop new creative and technology partners, achieve
success in funding, acquire new commissions, curated into exhibitions
and festivals, and are able to leverage the resources and networks
developed from the BNMI Interactive Screen Workshop network.
