noise=noise and Goldsmiths Digital Studios presents SENSORY RESPONSE SYSTEMS
a live DIY punk electronics performance by Ryan Jordan. Wednesday 16th September Studio 3, Goldsmiths, New Cross, London, SE14 6NW. Doors 17:45 Performance 18:00 Sensory Response Systems is an exploration into real-time DIY FLOSS-based interactive performance systems. Ryan has developed two systems for live performance utilising the programming language Pure Data, the micro controller platform Arduino, CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) technology, strobe lights, smoke, and various sensors, in order to create hypnotically immersing performance experiences. The performance is split into two sections. The first is using System 1 which is based on wearable sensors responsive to discrete physical movements. The second uses System 2 which is based on CMOS synths and strobe lights. System 1: Pure Data, Arduino, ADXL3xx 3axis-accelerometer (x3), push buttons (x8), LDR (Light Dependant Resistor) (x1), multiplexer (x1), Laptop, a strobe light, stretchy black fabric. (video - http://www.piksel.no/piksel08/p08_streams.htm ) System 2: CMOS 4093 (x3), LDR (x12), capacitors of assorted values (x12), battery connector (x3), 9v battery (x3), strobe light (x3), audio mixer, smoke machine. (video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovG9uaD7Za4&feature=channel_page ) This performance event is FREE! It will start promptly at 6pm so make sure you are there in good time! A bit about the artist: Ryan Jordan is a UK based artist working with DIY electronics, physical performance, Pure Data, and noise. He makes live electronic music/noise performances which incorporate human physical movements and strobe lighting as their essential foundation. Ryan also curates several noise, experimental and computer arts events and concerts in the UK, such as hac... and noise=noise. He is an active member of London based open source collective, OpenLab; and has released music on Bad Sekta, Anithematica/CovenH, and AntiGen. Ryan has performed his work in many places such as galleries, squats, pub cellars, theaters, the odd town hall, festivals, academic institutions and an occasional beach. He is currently living in London and just completed an MFA in Computational Studio Arts at Goldsmiths University, London, UK.
