- ________________________________ CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS CONTINUUM - New commission opportunity for artists working with moving images Artists working with the moving image are being invited to submit their work for a new commission opportunity at PORTLAND GREEN Cultural Projects and Rugby Art Gallery & Museum. PORTLAND GREEN, in partnership with Rugby Art Gallery & Museum, is seeking proposals for a new, artist's moving image work that has been specifically created to be accessed by audiences in multiple spaces – for example, the gallery, cinema, a site-specific space, packaged content, or online. The new work is part of a programme of activities in which the partners are engaged in 2010 with the aim of building new audiences for the collection, exhibition and distribution of the artist’s moving image in Rugby and beyond. The new work will have realisable exhibition, dissemination or distribution strategies; to support this, it will be given a public gallery space at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum from 31 August to 31 October. The artist selected will be expected to use the gallery space inventively. Portland Green Cultural Projects is a cultural production company supporting a broad field of interdisciplinary artwork that seeks to challenge the conventions of the spaces, media and platforms with which it engages. It is an innovator in the field of distribution and exhibition, seeking out new forms of audience engagement. Please see www.portlandgreen.com <http://www.portlandgreen.com> Rugby Art Gallery & Museum is a nationally recognised institution committed to supporting contemporary art. The venue hosts a changing temporary exhibition programme that includes exciting new work and commissions in all media. It runs a successful touring programme, sending its exhibition projects to other galleries both nationally and internationally. The year 2010 is important for the venue, since it celebrates the tenth anniversary of its opening. This joint commission with Portland Green Cultural Projects is a key part of a special year-long programme of exhibitions and events demonstrating Rugby Art Gallery & Museum’s commitment to commissioning and exhibiting high quality and innovative contemporary art. The deadline for applications is 21 January 2010, and for the delivery of the work, 31 July 2010. Before submitting a proposal, please read the Proposal Guidelines and FAQs.
