Venue: Access Space, Unit 1, AVEC Building, 3-7 Sidney St, Sheffield S1 4RG Website: www.access-space.org Outline: You don`t need a new computer and expensive name brand audio software to create great sounds! Whatever your level of experience, and whatever the kind of sounds you like, this workshop will show you how to create audio with recycled computers and Free and Open Source Software. Beginners are welcome as are those who are more experienced with music software. We will cover audio and midi sequencing, audio editing, sampling and creating multi-track pieces for mixing, helping you to build a complex sound/music tracks from scratch (including using Creative Commons sound files freely downloadable from the web). Software will include Ardour, Rosegarden, Audacity, LADSPA plug-ins, Specimen and ZynAddSubFX. This workshop is free and will be run by Sheffield musician and sound artist, Jake Harries.
